1. Their lives might be in danger due to:

  • war
  • earthquakes, volcanoes or flooding
  • disease
  • hunger due to crop failure or the death of their animals

2. It might be hard to make a living due to:

  • farming being difficult due to poor land or drought
  • too many people competing for land
  • having lost a job in a mine or factory

3. The rest of their family or the people who support them may have died or moved away.

1. The new place might be safer with:

  • peace
  • no threats from nature
  • less disease or better health care
  • good food supplies

2. It might be easier to make a living:

  • the land might be better for farming
  • it might be easier to find land
  • there might be other ways to make a good living

3. You may have relatives or friends in the new place who will help you out.
